Lainie Singerman – Candidate for FCDC Vice Chair Central

Lainie Singerman is a Fairfax County native who returned to practice law after obtaining her B.A. from the University of Chicago and J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.  In May 2017, she was elected to serve on the 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee. She primarily practices personal injury law, fighting for crime victims and other people who have been injured, and provides free legal services to victims of domestic violence seeking protective orders. As an officer of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, she hopes to stand up for progress and inclusiveness in our community and promote a culture of professionalism on the Committee.

Lainie is no stranger to Democratic activism in Fairfax County. She got her start volunteering for John Kerry 2004, when she also formed Oakton High School’s first Young Democrats club. Lainie also volunteered for Steve Shannon for Attorney General in 2005, Jim Webb for Senate in 2006 and worked for Senator Chap Petersen’s first state senate race in 2007.

Lainie interned for Connolly 2008, Deeds 2009, Babur Lateef in Prince William in 2011 (and fought Corey Stewart!), Bernie in the 16 primary and Hillary in the general.

While at law school she provided pro-bono legal assistance for prisoners on death row in Virginia, at the innocence project fighting wrongful convictions in Virginia, and worked for the public defender in Albermarle County.
